Lehigh Valley Employment Forecast 2040

Recently, the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission (LVPC) shared the Lehigh Valley Employment Forecast 2040 in its latest newsletter.

According to LVPC:

The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission (LVPC) has developed a set of long-term industry and occupational employment forecasts for Lehigh and Northampton counties through 2040. The employment forecasts developed through this process are an extrapolation of historical and more current demographic and economic trends into the future. The forecasts show what the Lehigh Valley economy may look like at some future time if present trends continue. The LVPC needs the employment forecasts to update the region’s travel demand model which uses population and employment data to calculate the expected demand for transportation facilities. We also will use the employment forecasts in the upcoming jobs/housing balance studies and other planning.

The report highlights the following:

  • Past and present trends
  • Full-time and part-time employment
  • Job loss and gain
  • Comparisons to national data
  • Future population and employment projections
  • County-level data
  • Lehigh Valley industry sectors
  • Lehigh Valley occupational forecasts
