Back-to-School in PA: A few quick facts

Each year, September marks the start of a new school year for thousands of students throughout Pennsylvania. The PA State Data Center reported on the upcoming 2011-12 school year with a new brief entitled, “Back to School in PA 2011.” The report highlights pre-k through high school enrollment data, interesting facts about back-to-school shopping, and a few statistics regarding the benefits of staying in school. Included facts:

+PA’s 2010-11 public school enrollment: 1,781,206 students

+ PA is 3rd in the nation for its number of colleges and universities: 257

+PA residents with a Bachelor’s degree earn more than those with a high school diploma alone: +$19,815 per year (2009 data)
